- Critical review of accident causation models/theories and their application to incident reporting for a medium-sized company in one of Australia’s priority industries.
- Task
- To answer this question you need to:
- a. Conduct a literature search to identify and select at least ten (10) articles, including no less than six (6) peer-reviewed articles, on model and/or theories of accident causation. Prepare a summary of the strength and weakness of each article. (This is commonly called an annotated bibliography).
- b. Critique your selected literature to discuss the strengths and weaknesses of two accident causation models and/or theories. (This is commonly called a literature review).
- c. Based on your critique, develop a template for an incident reporting system that can be used for a medium-sized company (21 to 99 workers) that operates in one of the high priority industries identified in the Australian work health and safety strategy 2012-2022.
Description
The report discusses two of the accident causation theories. The report then discusses the application of the theories to the mining industry and provides an outline of the incident reporting system for mining companies.
