This report is based on the following requirement -
You need to choose any company of your choice. Critical analysis of the case will help you to answer the following operations management questions:
Q1) critically examine three relevant Operation Management (OM) decision areas (e.g. quality, inventory management, layout or process design etc.) in your chosen company (or workplace, as long as evidences can be validated with credible resources within your workplace) (suggested 750 words)
Q2a) Compare and contrast your chosen organisation with another contemporary one using the 4 Vs (Volume, Variety, Variation and Visibility) (suggested 150 words – please see Note 2)
Q2b) Examine the ways to improve operational performance within your chosen company (suggested 350 words).
Note 1: Introduction and conclusion is suggested to be 250 words.
Note B: Please include a table with the comparison of your companies 4 V’s in Appendix A and include a short discussion referring to this in the main body of the Report.
You will be required to undertake a case study and complete a case analysis report. This can be based on operations of current or previous workplace. The report will be 1,500 words in length (not including executive summary, references and appendices). It should include answers to all the case questions (given above) and must make use of relevant unit concepts on the aspect covered.

"In the first question (3 key decisions)
You should do two major things for each key Operations decision area, 1) Define the key decision area and it's relevance to the organisation's operations and 2) critically discuss how your organisation approaches that decision area.
An example of this may be the location decision. You can define the location decision area through the use of a textbook definition or a credible academic reference (perhaps from a journal article) and briefly explain why it is important to an Operation.
Then you can identify where your operation has located it's key facilities (perhaps it's manufacturing facilities in Oman or Germany, etc.) and what the decision logic was (perhaps skills amongst the workforce, appropriate regulations, access to key markets, etc.). This can be supported through citations from the organisation website, credible newspaper or industry publication articles, etc. You can then choose to discuss ways to improve performance or discuss how the decision made is appropriate and strengthens the Operation as a whole.
You have approximately 250 words for each key decision area so you will need to be concise, try to highlight only the relevant information rather than giving a history of the company or including unnecessary background information.
Description
The primary intention of this assignment is to analyse the operations management of one of the most significant companies in Oman that is Oman Post Company. The company has been operational since the year 1856 with the opening of the very first post office in Muscat. In the year 1966, it was the Omani Government which took over and managed the company. Recently, in the year 2005, Oman Post Company was placed under the guidance of Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said through the Royal Decree No. 48/2005 (Oman Post Corporation., 2017). Since its origin the company has been continuously striving to upgrade itself and thus enhance its efficiency and effectiveness.
