Description
Bringing up children can be as daunting as any professional task. Children by nature are raw in learning civilized ways of living and as such need to be disciplined or guided to make them grow as complete and competent citizens. It is perennial dilemma of parents and guardians as to whether children should be brought up in a stern, disciplined manner or as to whether they must bring them up in an open and nurturing atmosphere (Blum and Williams 338). Guidance is another factor, the growing children seek from their parents, elders, teachers or just anybody (Guiles-Sims and Lockhart 201). There have been many writers and scholars who have given their valuable advice to children as to how they can shape their thinking and hence their lives. This essay attempts to frame a set of advice to children with the help of the writings of Mark Twain and Thomas Jefferson.
