Description
Governance is the means by which society defines goals and priorities and advances cooperation. It includes policies, laws, decrees, norms, instruments and institutions.
Effective public participation in environmental governance requires adequate access to information for the public and transparent decision making processes. Individuals and community organisations should have access to the same information as decision makers, although this rarely happens in practice.
