Description
Perisher Blue has been formed by combining four different resorts. This has made Perisher Blue the best place to ski in Australia. The company is set to take a leap forward with an award winning master plan and is now looking at ways to implement the plan.
This report identifies the major business goals and requirements of the company. Necessity of coming up with an IS strategy is identified. The business environment of Perisher Blue indicates that there is a strong opportunity to be taken advantage of. The critical factors identified are: integration of all the four resorts and allowing seamless movement of visitors across the mountains for various facilities. Apart from this, conservation of environment and wildlife is also identified as a critical factor.
Implementing a new Information Technology system is essential to achieve the business goals identified. The three most important systems based on the business requirements are: a Radio Frequency Identification system that will allow easy access of facilities for all visitors, an Enterprise Resource Planning system that will integrate various process and functions of the company and a video surveillance system that will ensure safety and maintenance of the facilities as well as help in wildlife preservation.
Cost requirements of these systems is huge and an in dept cost benefit analysis is essential before deciding on implementing any of these systems. Also, Perisher Blue does not have experience and capability to implement such a large scale system and would need to outsource implementation of these systems to third party vendors.
