This report answers the following questions –
1. Identify THREE items that ARE NOT being made with any laser materials processing technology (laser Welding, Laser cladding, Laser surface modification) at the moment but can benefit from being laser processed.
2. FULLY explain why and how they will benefit from replacing a current process with a laser process (Only Laser welding, Laser cladding or laser surface modification – NOT laser cutting)
3. In your suggested laser processing of this item, what process and material characteristics should be taken into consideration for a successful operation?
4. Obviously, this project is all about innovation, but what process or material innovation can you suggest to improve your laser process even more?
