This assignment is based on the following case study –
Management has given you responsibility for planning and organising your team’s move to new premises. You decide that it’s important to get the team participating in the move and to generate enthusiasm for it yourself. You decide on the following courses of action:
You circulate a floor plan of the new premised which indicates dimensions, where the team will work and what facilities will be available.
You call a meeting at which you announce further details of the move including the staged time frame of the transfer. This includes naming the staff who will remain at the old premises to keep business running normal and the names of those who will move first to set up in the new quarters. You point out some benefits of the new premises and answer questions as well as you can.
You announce that you have given responsibility for organising the details of the move to one of the members of your work team, a popular supervisor whose manner inspires confidence in people. You ask that questions on detail be directed to that person, though you point out that some details will not be known until after the move because of the extra equipment at the new premises (which will require training) and the placement of new staff who are being recruited to handle the expected business growth.
You point out that the expected growth in business is taking shape and that it will strengthen the company’s viability and so make jobs more secure. You add that planning for the expansion will involve considerable restructuring of the company and that further details will be provided after the move.
