Description
Gender and Sex are often considered synonyms in the daily usage, however, the two mean entirely different when seen in a sociologist perspective. The Collins Thesaurus gives gender as the synonym of sex (2nd; The Collins Thesaurus 568) while Oxford Dictionary explains the term gender as having social or cultural context (Oxford Web). While mankind has prospered in almost all spheres of social and political life, a host of problems still haunt the dream of equality amongst people and probably gender tops the list. Religious movements, feminist organizations, United Nations programs, work of NGOs and other social movements have although, ameliorated the severity of gender issue but have not been able to eradicate this undesirable phenomenon.
