Description
Today, businesses operate in a highly complex environment and they require operational systems, which are robust, flexible and scalable. Organizations, which aim to promote and experience healthy growth should integrate all its systems and processes. According to a dynamic business report, adding new functions is the key to increasing profitability and expanding customer base (Stair & Reynolds, 2013). Many organizations have different units and have developed and maintained information and systems from the functional view of their own unit without considering the impact of other business units on their performance. Such organizations do not realize the importance of integration, which leads to lack of inefficiency in the overall performance. Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software enables organization to integrate several processes of the different departments, which include manufacturing, inventory, sales, accounting, human resource, marketing and product planning (Monk & Wagner, 2011). This report discusses the importance of integration and how lack of integration affects the business operations. The report also discusses how Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP ) systems enables organizations to overcome the issues, which arise due to lack of integration and discusses two case studies, which proves the effectiveness of the ERP systems.
