Description
Tennis heritage collections should be located at Melbourne Park, Melbourne due to the following reasons. The offices of Tennis Australia are already located in Melbourne Park. It is just two kilometres from central business district. So strategically it would be easier to monitor visitors’ movements and manage the heritage collections. Secondly Melbourne Park already houses world class facility with 22 outdoor Rebound Ace courts, four show courts and seven indoor courts. The facility already has significant tournament specific heritage elements such as Rod Laver Arena, named after the famous tennis player Rod Laver, who had won eleven grand slam singles including four Wimbledon titles. That itself arouses a lot of sports touristic interests. The people are already touring Rod Lever arena and have the opportunity to view the collections displayed.
