This report is based on the following requirement -
PART 1: A research report with a word limit of 2000 words on British Airway’s (BA) change program that resulted in long-running industrial disputes between its management and crew members in 2009 to 2011. (40%) For part 1, please use Kaleidoscope to support your answers. (about 20 references)
More specifically, you need to provide accounts in this report on the following:
Use Kaleidoscope (Organisation change context) to support and explain what happened and use Kaleidoscope (Time, Scope, Preservation Diversity, capability, Capacity, Readiness, Power) to support and explain on the events in BA. (Figure 1. Kaleidoscope)
The contextual information about the BA’s introduction of strategic changes (British Airways: 2009 – 2011)
Evaluation on the nature of such changes
The change management strategy, if any, as outlined by the BA management
The challenges and difficulties in implementing such changes
Define why is there a need for change?
What is BA short term goal? (Ans: Cut losses. Explain how the union flight for the crew of BA and how does that affect the management and the public)
What is BA long term goal? (Ans: To become leading airlines. Explain how the management is planning to do and will it affect the crew and the public)
PART 2: An academic report of a 2000 words limit to evaluate the implementation/resistance of such change management from one of the three stakeholders’ point of view: BA management team, BA cabin crew and the British public but you have got to link it back to the other 2. (60%)
Write an overview of about 500 words on BA Crew and BA Management and 1500 words on the British public. Use William bridges “Figure 2. The coping cycle” model to descript BA public. (about 20 references)
This report needs to clearly identify a range of appropriate texts on:
Use Kaleidoscope (Implementation options) to explain how British public look and react to BA case
The core issues about strategic changes and change management in BA. (This should be outlined against appropriate theoretical frameworks or conceptual discussions)
Specific concerns and problems that you anticipated from a particular stakeholder’s point of view. (This is to show your awareness on practical issues as implicated in change management in business companies)
Managerial challenges as experienced or encountered in this problem situation. (Linkage between theoretical explanation and practical experience shall be clarified)
Advised approaches for overcoming resistance to change, dealing with your own (stakeholders) and other's anxieties, and effectively winning support for change management
