BENEFITS OF THE GAMES
Description
The decision to award the Games to Delhi, India, was taken during the Commonwealth Games Federation General Assembly meeting which took place in Jamaica on November 13, 2003. Delhi won 46 votes while Hamilton, Canada vying for hosting the games won 22 votes out of a possible 72 votes. India's theme was "2010 - Great Games for Sure," and it's bid had the full financial backing of the Government. In addition the recent successful staging of the Afro-Asian Games had demonstrated that India was ready for holding a world-class sporting event.
