Description
This paper is based on the following task –
In larger organisations there can be broader changes in organisational structures and employment patterns that may create barriers to the implementation and effectiveness of an OHSMS (Bottomley, 1999).
An OHSMS is usually implemented with a stable workforce and a stable workplace in mind. Yet with the shift towards part-time and casual employment, contracting and labour hire, these employment methods represent a shift away from any stable organisational patterns that may create barriers to an effective OHSMS.
Your Task
Implementation of section 4 of AS/NZS 4801:2001 (Policy, Planning, Implementation,
Measurement & Evaluation and Management Review) into the workplace could be affected by part-time, casual employment, and contracting or labour hire.
Identify the most salient issues that may be encountered when implementing
Section 4 of AS/NZS 4801:2001 into the workplace. Include suggestions that will
assist management in the effective implementation of an OHSMS with regards to part-time and casual employment, contracting and labour hire.
