Description
Effective management of risks is very essential in all the workplaces and industries including mining industry. The health and safety policies and regulations established by the Occupational Health and Safety Acts provide organization with generic information on maintaining safety in all the aspects of the activities at work place. But management of risk is also very essential without which the processes cause serious injuries and illnesses and fatalities. Though the guidelines for risk management techniques are available there is a gap in guidance material for management of risk and risk communications among the Australian mining companies. The risk management process as a whole enables organizations to have a holistic approach in mitigating risk and encourages them to consider it as an important part of their duties. The report discusses one of the risk management processes, criteria for analyzing and evaluating OHS risks, documents to support implementation of effective risk management process and an effective plan for risk management. The report provides recommendations to Atlas, one of the mining companies in Western Australia so that it could eliminate the gaps in risk management processes and implement a technique, which will protect the health of all the stakeholders.
