Description
Effective communication is very essential in every profession and organizational processes. The effectiveness of the communication depends on the ability of an individual to understand the other person, Communication can be defined in different ways and scholars have various perspectives about communication (Berry, 2007). Communication basically can be referred to as a social process in which people employ symbols to establish and interpret meaning in their environment (Wosket, 2006). Health care practitioners deal with different types of people on a daily basis and hence need to have a personality wherein they are open to different perspectives, perceptions, behavior and attitude (Griffin et al., 2003). Nurses and health care practitioners need to adopt person-centered care approach to provide quality care to their patients. This report discusses the various communication approaches and person-centered care approaches, which help in providing quality care to the patients. The report also provides reflection about one of the nursing intervention experiences of the author of this report.
