Description
There has been tremendous growth in the internet technology after the introduction of World Wide Web (www), which mostly has been used by the research and academic community and by a large group of public network data in a modest proportion. In the last few decades there have been millions of corporate users along with home users who have gone online and made the internet a true public data network. With this ever increasing number of users there has been a rush of data in the backbone of the internet. So to meet the requirement of the bandwidth and the service, various Internet service providers have extended their networks to a number of folds, both in the size and the bandwidth. With the growing demand and continuous development in various internet technologies such as voice IP and e-commerce, there is a necessity to extend the network beyond the current abilities is vital. So in order to achieve this, the internet has to extend in various dimensions, which is not only limited to the bandwidth and the size but also has to work on routing, customer service and Quality of Service (QoS).
