Description
Healthcare organizations need to operate in a complex environment and require increased coordination between different departments and staff from different levels. Patient safety and care is of increased importance to every health care organization, which requires the medical practitioners, nurses, administrators and other care givers to effectively collaborate and utilize the resources efficiently and timely to ensure that patient’s concerns are addressed without any delay. Patient monitoring approach is of great importance as it enables the nurses and caregivers to ensure that every patient is provided the required care at the right time. Few of the technologies for patient monitoring include barcode wristband system, Radio-frequency identification (RFID) wristband system and Real-Time Location Systems (RTLS) system. Fortune Hospital aims at improving its existing patient monitoring system in which some processes are done manually. By adopting new technology, it aims to automate certain processes, which can help them maintain accuracy and avoid any human errors in patient care. RTLS system provides a comprehensive approach to monitor patient as it not just provides location of the patients and their health records but also enables nurses and care givers to monitor the movements of the patients from remote areas. It helps in raising an alert if the patient enters a restricted area or is entering in a danger areas and coordinate with other staff to provide immediate assistance to the patient. Fortune Hospital will benefit from this patient monitoring system as it has different clinical specialties and staff from different departments need to coordinate to provide effective care to the patient. RTLS system will enable the hospital to monitor patients more effectively and ensure increased safety and care.
