This report is based on the following requirement -
In this assignment, you are expected to show your understanding of the relevance of different concepts and approaches to an organization of your choice by referring to appropriate literature and real life examples. In this assignment you are asked to:
A. Investigate the workings of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERPs) through literature research.
In this task, you are expected to compile:
A description of ERPs workings and map against the systems hierarchy.
Explanation the flow of information through their use(input, storage, process and dissemination)
Explanation of what type/level of system ERP is.
An explanation of how ERPs affect the value chain of the organization, and add value.
Any issues with acquiring and using ERPs in organizations.
A list of current ERP providers and comparison of their software functionalities.
Provide necessary URL and information in appendices.
Provide a list of books and journal papers that discuss ERPs. Please note that a working URL and DOI code of the journal papers must be given in the bibliography. Try to provide a historical chain of publications.
B. Investigate the emergence of new technologies, such as cloud computing, and their impact on organization information systems governance. Please highlight the key developments but focus ONLY on one type of technology in detail. You may undertake research in IS literature and general IT based new bulletins etc.
In this task you are expected to compile:
A list of new major IT development in current times, such as Cloud Computing, Software as Service, Miniaturisation of Technology etc.
The need for strategic direction in the organization.
A brief description of the nature of Information System Strategy and IT Governance and how such new technology should be handled.
Discuss of the typical changes and hurdles required to incorporate this technology into the organization workings.
Further progress in the area of development you are focusing on and future forecast.
