In today’s highly competitive world, it is very important for every organization to be at its innovative best to be successful and more important ride on that success. Every organization has its own manufacturing and organizational processes/operations. Globalization has led to increased competition even in hitherto conservative markets due to the entry of products and services that are offered at cheaper prices or with additional features. In order to cope with the increased competition and ever changing market situations, the organizations are finding the implementation of effective quality management system as crucial to have sustained competitive advantage. In such a scenario, for the organization to be successful, it not only has to look for opportunities in the market outside but also has to look into its inside operations where it can better its processes and operations to maximize its profits. Internal operations can be and has to be monitored to understand the current discrepancies. There is a clear cut departure from the concepts of quality from the past when quality control was limited to the product or service outcomes. However, in the present scenario quality of overall output of the company is perceived to be dependent on the quality outcomes of all the departments of the organization. Based on this knowledge tools and methods can be adopted to better the internal operations which maximizes the profits. This report describes two tools or methodologies that can be used to improve organizational performance. The tools that are described are kaizen and lean six sigma (LSS). The report also describes how these tools can be integrated for better benefits.
