Description
Coliforms are bacteria present in animal’s digestive tracts, which include humans and are also found in wastes (McCoy, 2015). Coliform is also found in plants and soil material. Total coliform includes bacteria, which are found in soil and water and has been influenced by animal or human waste or influences by surface water (McCoy, 2015). These bacteria though are not very harmful but can lead to diseases in human in case other types of coliform exist in water (Rompre et al., 2002). This report discusses the regulations of total coliform for drinking water and also discusses the implementation, compliance and testing methods for detecting coliform in the water.
