Description
This report is based on the following requirement -
You have completed a training course in PRINCE2. Your ambition was to work in a government department, where you could work as a project manager (PM) using your PRINCE2 knowledge. However, you have received a good offer to work as a PM for a small private sector consulting firm, and you have decided to accept this offer. In your first week you have been assigned to manage a project (budget $500,000) that must be completed within 6 months. This project will be called Project Silver. The client for Project Silver is a local business.
You should invent the details of the client and Project Silver from your own experience. You may make any assumptions that are necessary about this scenario, but please state your key assumptions in your report.
1. Briefly describe the important features of the client business, and also list and describe the objectives and scope of Project Silver. (20%)
2. What project management methodology will you select for Project Silver? List and critically assess the factors you will consider in taking this decision. (20%)
3. Part of your job as PM on Project Silver is to manage your project team. List the roles of the people on the Project Silver team. Critically discuss the most important principles of good team leadership, and explain how you will apply those principles as PM on Project Silver (20%)
4. Project Silver has been running smoothly for nearly a month. You are then surprised when the client tells you they need the project to be finished faster, in 3 months rather than 6. How will you manage this demand? (20%)
5. Before Project Silver began, the client gave you their written requirements for the work. But half-way through the project, it is clear these written requirements are not what the client really wants or needs. How will you manage this problem? (20%)
