Organisational behaviour is a cultural concept, surrounding which a number of theories have been developed. What constitutes certain beliefs, what determines organisational behaviour, what is the reason behind the work culture- all these are studied within the ambit of Organisational Behaviour. The field of Organisational Behaviour has become a very imperative aspect in the business field, the realm of corporate and the sphere of the workplace. Managing and motivating workforce to perform a given task and achieve the best in it can be a difficult task and managers look for ways to motivate people at work to give their best to the organisation. Team effort and cooperative environment with a healthy competition can be hard to maintain.
It is in this context, this paper explores the effect of organisational behaviour in retail sector of UK. Retail is very vibrant sector and is crucial in economies contributing a large share in national GDP. The retailing sector in UK is quite developed and has undergone various changes to transform into what it is now. As dynamic as retail sector might sound but it faces several unique challenges and problems. One of which is fierce competition with more and more players entering into the market. Secondly, consumers want a well maintained attractive store with good ambience and preference of products with attractive discounts and offers. Third challenge that retail stores face is changing pattern of consumer demands. Owing to which retail sector has to remodel its marketing policy every now and then to cater to fast changing demands.
