Description
Delhi is known to be the fourth most polluted city in the world (Gadhok, 2009). Air pollution causes about 0.5 million deaths in India every year (Bio-medicine, 2009). There are many causes for the increased air pollution in Delhi such as population density, increases vehicular concentration and high emission levels, unplanned industrialization etc. (Gadhok, 2009). Of all the vehicles diesel vehicles are known to emit more poisonous gases than petrol or CNG vehicles (Chand, 2007). Of all the causes identified the main cause seems to be lack of sufficient civic awareness about the hazards of air pollution. Although, Indian governmental authorities have implemented a few measures, the efficacy of these measures are largely undermined by the poor awareness levels among common citizens (Poole at al, 2003). This report is aimed at designing an educational strategy to educate the communities in Delhi about the hazardous effects of air pollution and implement the actions proposed to reduce air pollution in Delhi. Below is an educational strategy designed to create awareness about air pollution keeping in mind the public of Delhi.
