Background
Two important steps in the intelligence cycle are collection and analysis. The relative importance of these steps is contested. Historically collection was assumed to be the most important step in the process due to the level of investment required to locate and access secret and even unclassified information. However we now live in an information age where finding and accessing information has never been easier. In today’s world it might be argued that the most important step in the intelligence cycle is that relating to information and source evaluation.
Task
Review the academic literature on intelligence and information. Discuss the difficulties of information and source evaluation within the context of the contemporary information age.
