Description
Systems include set of elements, which interact with each other in order to achieve the desired objectives. Organization can be considered as one of the systems, which includes different elements and sub-systems, which interact with each other to achieve the organizational goals. Systems thinking is an approach for problem solving wherein the problems are viewed as parts of overall system and analyzing all the elements in the system rather than analyzing or responding to specific elements or events. Systems thinking focuses on viewing the problem situations as cyclic rather than linear cause and effect (Weinberg, 2011). System archetypes helps in identifying the patterns of behavior of a system, which helps in identifying the various negative consequences, which can arise due to the typical actions taken by the organization to address a problem situation (Weinberg, 2011). There are different system archetypes, which every organization use, which can lead to serious issues if not considered and addressed. The report discusses the concept of systems thinking and system archetypes and discusses one of the archetype in Downer Group. The report also provides the approach to overcome the issue.
