Description
Men and women are essentially different in their behavior, responses to certain sociological conditions, emotional responses, intellectual responses etc. Many scientific, psychological and behavioral theories have suggested that the way men and women perceive things are quite different. Even recent scientific researches using brain mapping suggest the mindscapes of men and women different greatly. Even as a common observer one can see that men are logical work with their intellect and reasoning and women are emotional. This is not to say that men and women have exclusive behavioral patterns. Men can be emotional too and lose reasoning at times and women can be more logical and have presence of mind in crisis. Men are traditionally known to be the ‘go-getters’ and women the passive recipient. Men might opt for adventurous sports, women might prefer activities that need keenness, patience and accuracy. If we take the average certain features among men and women can be distinct to each of the category. But some of the faculties of men and women can be more enhanced in one as compared to the other. Natalie Angier, who has authored the essay ‘Intolerance of Boyish Behavior’ opines that the seed of this difference are very much visible among school children. Boys tend to be erratic and not doing the home work as regularly as girls (Natalie Angier,1). The author also opines that the current times have little scope for boys to be boys or men to be men. This essay discusses tattooing and the use of heavy bikes among men used as male ego enhancer and how men take up to tattooing to express their primal instincts in the modern world. Men express their inhibited machismo as a result of modernism in the form of getting their bodies tattooed.
