Description
Organizations sustainability and profitability depends on its abilities to apply effective strategies in response to the market environment. Strategy development and implementation can be effective only when it is applied based on the findings of the analysis of the external and internal environment (Rumelt, 2011). The strategies applied based on the analysis enables organization to be effective in their approach to develop and implement strategies and achieve the returns on investment. Bank Muscat is country’s flagship bank and was established in 1982 and was operating under the name of Oman Overseas Trust Bank, which was renamed in 1999 to Bank Muscat (Bank Muscat, 2016). Bank Muscat provides range of services, which include retail banking, corporate banking, private banking, investment banking and asset management (Bank Muscat, 2016). The bank has 40% of the market share and wide network of ATMs and branches across the region (Prasad et al., 2014). The bank is the leading in providing corporate banking services and has around 3200 employees (Bank Muscat, 2016). The report analyses the external and internal environment of Bank Muscat. The report then analyses the possible strategies for the bank to sustain and provides recommendations after evaluating the proposed strategies.
