Organizations have to effectively analyze its external environment and strategize its actions to address the external forces. The strategies implemented based on the analysis of the external factors enable organizations to achieve its desired goals and achieve sustainable competitive advantage (Hill et al., 2016, p.27). Tesla Motors is an American automaker, which specializes in electric cars and powertrain components (Morris, 2014, p.31). The company also produces battery charging equipment (Morris, 2014, p.31). The company was founded in 2003 by Marc Tarpenning and Martin Eberhard and have been successful in their venture s they believe in doing one thing at one time (Tesla, 2017). Tesla’s first vehicle ‘The Roadster’ was first automobile to use lithium-ion battery cells and the first electric vehicle with range of more than 200 miles per charge (Tesla, 2017). The company has network of Superchargers, which are located across Europe and North America and Asia, which offers fast chargers for their customers along with refreshment facilities (Morris, 2014, p.78). The company has a huge production and assembly plant called Gigafactory in Nevada where the Tesla batteries are manufactured by Panasonic. The company aims to eventually offer electric cars, which are at highly affordable prices (Tesla, 2017). This report carries out external environmental analysis of Singapore where Tesla Motors aims to establish its business.
