Description
Organizational behavior is significant for the proper functioning of an organization and this enhances the performance of the company. Macy’s Inc is an American retail company that has developed an issue of shutting down of 68 stores after a holiday shopping season which turned out to be disappointing (Tribune News Services, 2017). The corporate culture practiced in Macy’s provided many people with work opportunities helping the employees to contribute, advance and ultimately, lead in the competitive market. But this has led to an obstacle in the growth and profit making strategy of the company. The company invested a great amount of capital in the employees and the company faces the biggest expense in the employee turnover. Closure of the stores would also mean to a loss of potential customers. The discount stores called the Backstage which provided with the maximum discount of 80 percent did not turn out to be productive enough unlike Nordstrom’s (JWN) Nordstrom Rack (Monica, 2016). The development of e-commerce business has led to the decline of footfall at the stores which is ultimately reducing the level of traffic at the stores. The organization requires providing reasons so that it would attract customers to visit the shop. Shifting the focus from apparels to medicines and food products is advisable for it would attract the customers as health and wellbeing is a growing trend among the people.
