Description
Events are considered to have a positive social impact on a nation as it brings people together and engages different communities and different types of stakeholders at different levels (Dredge and Whitford, 2010, p.1). Events have significant influence on subsequent developments and have a positive or negative impact on the locality and the respective communities (Ooi and Pedrsen, 2010, p.316). This report discusses the role of events in new forms of urban governance and inter urban competition. It also discusses the effect of events on local and central government strategies.
