Select an existing event as a case study to report on the motivation for attending events, impacts of the event and suggestions for improvement of the event for the community and region. The report must be underpinned by theory throughout.
Note: final approval of your event choice will be provided by your tutor.
Chosen event is - Melbourne International Comedy Festival
Criteria:
Write an overview/background/type of your chosen event
Interpret the significance of the event to the destination by explaining the ability of the destination to host the event i.e. infrastructure, accommodation, labour market, venues etc.
Discuss the motivational factors for visitors to attend your event
Apart from visitors, choose two other stakeholders and discuss their motivational factors in regards to the event.
Evaluate both the positive and negative impacts (PESTLE) of your event.
Reflecting on your previous answers and along with industry and current trends provide suggestions to improve the event in the region and increase community involvement (a minimum of four).
Description
The following report focuses on the motivation to attend an event, impacts of the respective event and the various suggestions improving the event for the community. The event of our choice is the Melbourne International Comedy Festival. The background and complete details about the program are discussed here. The significance of the event, its popularity among the local people, and its international position in the comedy sector and related factors are studied here. The various impacts of the event on the people, the factors for their motivation towards the event and the effect on the locality are mentioned in this report. The overall importance of the destination and the involvement of the stakeholders are provided here. The report ends with some possible suggestions to improve the event to increase community participation (Melbourne International Comedy Festival., 2017).
