Description
Human resources management has evolved in the last few decades and has become one of the crucial organizational resources in the recent years (Hess, 2010). Human resources management, which was known as personnel management till few decades ago limited its functions and scope to recruitment, pay, training and rewards management. Human resources management in the contemporary times however, has included other factors of workforce such as attitudes, behaviour, motivation and satisfaction to its portfolio (Clipper, 2012). Staffing in health service not only requires identification and selection of skilled and trained staff but also requires identification and training the staff on interpersonal skills, communication, empathy and work ethics since the staff is required to deal with the patients who require empathetic care rather than a mechanistic treatment and care (ANA, 2012). This essay discusses the factors that influence the staffing in health care. The essay also identifies the staff factors and the patient factors that influence the staffing in healthcare.
