Description
Jack Welch joined General Electric in the year 1960 as a Junior Chemical Engineer. In a year’s time, in 1961, he wanted to quit his job as he was discontented with the salary raise offered to him and the bureaucracy observed in General Electric at that point of time. One of his senior executives persuaded him to stay assuring him of changes as Jack Welch desired. In 1968 he became the Vice President and Head of General Electric’s Plastic Division. In 1971 he became the Vice President of Metallurgical and Chemical’s Divisions. In 1973 he became the Strategic Planning Head and he became the Head of Consumer Products and Services Division in the year 1977. In the year 1979 he became the Vice Chairman and in 1981 he became the youngest Chairman and CEO of General Electric.
