As a strategy specialist, a person will critically analyze the external petroleum as well as automobile industry environment of Saudi Arabia. It would critically analyze and discuss the impact of the potential entry of Electric cars on the petroleum industry in Saudi Arabia by using Porter’s five forces that shape competition. The forces that form competition are the threat of new participants, power of dealers, the threat of substitute goods, competitive rivals and power of consumers. Electric cars consist of several features such as produce no tailpipe emissions, contain battery packs for electric power and important means of transportation in the imminent periods (Kieckhäfer, Wachter and Spengler, 2017). The environment of the petroleum industry is accompanied by severe risks, threats or competition. The two forces will be discussed to analyze the way electric cars impact the petroleum industry.
